Information and Application to come under care of Siouxlands Presbytery

All documents required of applicants to our Presbytery for candidacy, internship, licensure, ordination, or transfer must be submitted to the Chairman of the Candidates and Credentials Committee at least 30 days before the meeting of the Presbytery at which the applicant is to be considered.

Further:

  • When someone want to become a Candidate for Gospel Ministry: See BCO 18.
    • Note: This step is required in order to become an Intern (and may be contemporaneous with becoming an Intern).
  • When someone wants to become an Intern: See BCO 19, part B.
    • Note: It is required to be a Candidate in order to become an Intern, and this step is required prior to ordination.
  • When someone wants to be Licensed to preach: See BCO 19, part A.
    • Note: Per our Presbytery Standing Rules 1.053.c., Licensure is required for “those who wish to preach on a regular basis within the bounds of Presbytery (BCO 19-1), which shall ordinarily be defined as more than three consecutive Lord’s Days or more than a total of five Lord’s Days within any given 12-month period. If, however, exigencies arise in a church, the Session of that church may temporarily exceed the limits in securing pulpit supply until the next stated meeting of the Presbytery, provided that the Session shall record this fact (see S.R. 1.070.d.6) and notify the Presbytery immediately through this Committee, which shall determine whether licensure will be required to continue.”
  • When someone wants to be Ordained: See BCO 21.
    • Note: A completed Internship is required prior to Ordination.
  • When someone wants to Transfer into our Presbytery: See BCO 13-6.
